SPEQS

A Systems Perspective on Environmental Quality Standards

SPEQS is a three-year research programme that started in spring 2012.
The aim of the research programme SPEQS is to develope new knowledge about the Swedish system for environmental quality standards (EQS).

There is uncertainty about how the legislation should be applied and its ability to deliver compliance with EQS. SPEQS will analyse the reasons for the present lack of compliance by investigating the current design of the system and how it is applied and perceived by relevant stakeholders.

The knowledge will be relevant for policy makers and those involved in applying rules wihin the EQS system. This includes public authorities at different levels, firm representatives, as well as organisations and individuals who are affected by the lack of appropriate enforcement of EQS.
